STUDENT DRESS CODE

The surveys of parents, Teachers, and students of the Portage la Prairie School Division indicated a preference for no specific dress code requirements for students. It is therefore the position of the School Division that students shall be expected to dress appropriately for the occasion. (See JEP-R) The dress and appearance of students shall be the responsibility of the parents and students, unless:

	there is a reasonable expectation that a health or safety hazard will be presented by the student’s dress or appearance;
	there is a reasonable expectation that damage to school property will result from the student’s dress;
	there is a reasonable expectation that the student’s dress or appearance will create a substantial disruption of the education process at the school.

Violations of these general expectations shall be dealt with by the Principal on an individual basis.
