We are all very interested in expanding our knowledge of technology as ICT is major component of our teaching.  This year our workshops are focused on just that.  We are extremely proud to be featuring our own local teachers as presenters in all sessions of PARC this year.  We have a very talented group of educators and hope that this will be the first of many opportunities for our own, to showcase their knowledge and talents.

K - 4 ~ Kid Pix & Kidspiration

Presenter:  Pam Garnham

Activities to Support LwICT - a hands-on workshop for Grades K-4 teachers!

This workshop begins with a review of the Continuum Model for Literacy with ICT for Grades K-4. This is a great opportunity for you to participate in some hands-on activities for LwICT with the software programs available in your schools. You will be introduced to Kidspiration with a sample lesson for concept mapping.  The second program we will look at is Kid Pix which allows you to create pictures with drawing and painting tools and then create a slideshow by putting your pictures into a presentation with visual transitions and sounds.

5 – 8+  ~ E - Portfolios & Inspiration

Presenter:  Wendy Wylie

A brief demo will be provided on Inspiration.  As many teachers are already using this program it will turn into a sharing and exploration session.

Wendy and the staff at YQS are utilizing E - Portfolios this year and she will introduce you to the three options that they have been looking at:

Also a PowerPoint presentation Wendy's grade 4/5's put together last year, using pictures taken throughout the year to create a "memory DVD" will be shown to the group.

As an ICT team member I encourage teachers to step outside their comfort zones and jump in with both feet. I know that's where I am for sure!!
