Meeting was called to order at 7:05 pm.

The meeting agenda was presented and there were no additions to be made.

The minutes of May 28, 2007 were adopted as read. Adopted. All in favour. Carried.

Treasurer’s Report: The balance is $311.87.

Program Report: Tracey or Deb were not available to give a report at this time but Jim reminded the PAC that it was suggested at the April meeting that the Parent Advisory Council invite guest speakers to the monthly meetings at the rate of one every two months.

Volunteer Report: The survey sheets have been sent home with the students the first day of school and the have been a return of 119 as of tonight. Kinelm will take them home and go through what has been returned and will have a list for the volunteer coordinators.

Safety Report: At this time there is no safety liaison. Mark gave a report on the cameras.

A few of the cameras are in need of being repositioned and that is being worked on. There has been a request put in to the school Division to add two more cameras into the plaza that will have zoom in the lens as there was some things that went on that was unable to be caught on the existing cameras. More lighting is being looked at for the pathway between the two buildings in the plaza area. There are expanded steel gates for under the stairs so that no one will be able to get under the stairs.

The school will be having an inclimate weather drill on Thursday (what to do if there should be a tornado in the area). Lock down drills will be held later on as well.

Teacher Liaison: Ms. Asham and Mrs. Sevenko both had a baby boy. The yearbook will be available this Friday. The yearbook will be distributed in the fall every year.

Administration Report: There have been several resignations since June. Gay Patry will be leaving at the end of semester one, Megan Martin will be leaving at the end of September, Fern Turko, canteen operator, and two E. A.s.

Graham Shindle is a new staff member.

The grade 9 (Senior 1) students from Long Plain are not attending this year.

The school is using a new program this year for attendance. It is an on line attendance that is entered on the computer by each individual teacher. There should be less mistakes and reminders to teachers to send down their attendance records as the attendance is not sent to the office and entered by the secretary. It will keep track of students even if they drop out of a class. Another feature to this program is for parents or guardians to be able to access their own child’s attendance and grades and they will be able to email the teacher in a particular class. This part of the program is not functional at this time.

The school has a computer technician for half a day Monday to Friday for troubleshooting.

The athletics are under way with cross country, volleyball, soccer and football (first game had over 300 spectators) moving right along. In golf the boys won zones and are off to Provincials. Hockey tryouts are well under way.

The poles have been installed at the north end of the athletic field for the netting to help stop balls from entering Saskatchewan Avenue.

There are three trips being planned for students this year with a trip to New York, Band students will be off to Halifax, and French students will be off to Quebec.

The Power Mech. Shop is ready with the students in their classrooms. Some exhaust pipes underneath were crushed and need to be fixed before the students can use the garage portion.

Exterior of the school is moving right along.

This year has been a lot better for kids hanging around the neighborhood; there hasn’t been the need to do a lot of “chasing” students.

Old Business: PAC Volunteer Award – our criteria states that a plaque be given. At some point this has changed into a certificate.

Discussion was held in regards of what should be done.

Tracey Taylor motioned - that the PAC purchase a plaque for this award which would stay in the school. The plaque would start with the student of the 2006/2007 school year. A certificate would be handed out yearly at the awards ceremony.  All in favor. Carried.

It was suggested that the plaque hold 60 names. Diane Hamilton will look into the plaque and bring the information to the next meeting.
