Council Meeting
Monday, April 21,

The
meeting was called to order at 7:05 pm by Kinelm.
The
meeting agenda was presented and there were no additions.
The
minutes of March 17, 2008 were read. There were no errors or omissions. Sandi
Knight adopted the minutes as read and Tracey Taylor second. All in favor.
Carried.
Correspondence;
MAPC newsletter was read. Enclosed was a proxy vote form which Kinelm will fill
out and send off. On Tuesday, April 29, 2008 there will be a guest speaker, Bill
Gordon, to be held at Grant Park School. The topic will be “Getting to Know Your
Child Again”. Concerns about the new Phys. Ed. curriculum will be addressed to
the Minister of Education.
Treasurer Report;
There is no change, $311.87 and $505.
Program Report;
There is no report at this time.
Volunteer Report;
There is no report at this time.
Safety Report;
There was some mold found in the Prince Charles building in the lower level. Two
classrooms have been renovated and the problem is fixed and there is work being
done on the other classrooms to fix the problem, the work should be done soon.
There
was a power outage today. Students were kept in their classrooms and classes
were changed systematically to avoid problems in the hallways. Addition of more
emergency lighting will be looked into for the hallways.
Tom
Henry is looking into having the fire alarm system updated.
Teacher Liaison;
Carol Fast is away at this time due to shoulder surgery.
Administration Report;
Rodney Verwey won a gold medal in the Power Mech. Competition. He will be off to
compete in Calgary.
The
plaza project received the Community Grant of $5,000.00. Prairie blossom will be
redoing the brick by the bell. The banners will not be going into the bollards,
they will be going into the ground and be facing different directions throughout
the plaza and the bollards will be capped.
With the
implementation of the new Phys. Ed. curriculum students will need 30 credits to
graduate, 32 to graduate with distinction and there will be no graduating with
merit.
The teen
clinic has been started; there will be two offices with a waiting room which
will be open 4 days a week by a nurse practioner. This program is funded by the
RHA.
A model
for the new Phys. Ed. schedule has been proposed to the Phys. Ed. department for
the grade 11 and 12 curriculum.
The Grad
tea will be held on Sunday, April 27, 2008 everyone is welcome to attend.
Prom is
being held on Saturday, May 24, 2008.
There
are 19 students trying out for the Provincial all star football teams.
Parent-Teacher meetings went well, the attendance was good.
Student Council Report;
There is no report at this time.
Old
Business;
Information was sent to Jim in regards to receipts for physical activity for
income tax purposes. The school will have special receipts if they are
requested, otherwise the receipts they have been using will be issued.
New
Business; There is
no new business at this time.
Meeting
