PCI Parent Advisory Council Meeting

In Attendance; Beth Connery, Sherri Morgan, Rolande Williams, Sandi Knight, Holly Brookes, Kim Sissons, Diane Hamilton, Tracey Taylor, Jim Pehura, Joyce Giesbrecht, and Bev Stanger.

Regrets; Kinelm Brookes.

The meeting was called to order at 7:10 by Beth.

The meeting agenda was presented and there were no additions.

The minutes of April 21, 2008 were read. There were no errors or omissions. Tracey Taylor adopted the minutes as read and Sandi Knight second. All in favor. Carried.

Correspondence; Grade 11 Active Healthy Lifestyles information was presented, those that wanted to could read the material over in depth. Bill 24 and 28 were discussed and more information was available for those that wanted to read it.

Treasurer Report; there is no change, $311.87 and $505.00 is in the accounts.

Program Report; There is no report at this time.

Volunteer Report; The applications have been handed in and are awaiting pick up. The award will be presented at the Awards Ceremony on June 20 with Tracey Taylor presenting.

Safety Report; The mold problem is still being worked on, there was some more found. The clean up is hoped to be finished before school starts back up again in September.

Teacher Liaison; There is no report at this time.

Administration Report; Track and Field provincials are in Dauphin this Friday, 14 students are participating. Hardball is now finished and the fastball team is doing well. Grade 12 provincial English and Math exams are next week. The grade 12 exams will be finished on June 12 with Grad being held on June 20. There will be a new computer system in place (Maplewood) for the new school year. Staff will have some training before the new school year. Switch over to the new system will be starting soon with the completion being done by September. The undergrad awards are still being held in the fall. The grad tea and prom went over well. The Grad awards will be held Friday, June 20 at 2pm. The Grad ceremony will be held Saturday, June 21 at 2pm at the Canad Inn with Safe Grad to follow in the evening at the arena. There are three retirements this year; Gay Patry, Doug Halmarson, and Lawrence Popoff. There are two staff leaving Graham Shindle (will be going to Oakville as their new Principal), his position will not be filled and Carol Blackbird.

Timetables for the students will be ready for report cards with the pick up date being Thursday, June 26. August 26 the school will be open for course changes. A new Math curriculum will be introduced for the Grade 9 in 2009/2010. In 2010/2011 grade 10 Applied Math and PreCal will be together as an intro course.

Student Council Report; The student Lit will be next Friday. They want to leave a legacy by sprucing up the tennis courts through the plaza. The banners will be installed on the light standards. Putting ipod silhouettes on the EPCS building with the school colors using 5 motifs, they will be by the scoreboard along with the school mascot.

Old Business; There is no old business at this time.

New Business; Where are the AMHS grad pictures? “Hall of fame” changes are being worked on.

The Annual General Meeting will be held on Monday, October 20, 2008.

Staff luncheon will be held on Friday, June 20. 140 staff
