Yosh Tashiro is one of Manitoba's
most important rural photographers.
For a quarter of a century he was the
only photographer for the Daily Graphic Newspaper,
a paper that
serves the entire Portage la Prairie district. His photo negative
collection,
consisting of some 10 000 individual items, was rediscovered in
2002 in storage at the
Fort la Reine Museum. The collection is currently
being scanned and conserved
by students at Portage Collegiate Institute.
